NEBHE’s Transfer Initiatives team is committed to increasing equity in higher education by providing access and opportunity to all students in the region.

Transfer Resources

Transfer students are faced with myriad barriers along the path to degree attainment, the most prominent of which is credit loss. Credit loss hinders student success, unfairly disadvantaging transfer students by impacting time to degree and increasing costs of completing a degree.

A number of factors affect transfer credit such as institutional policy and practice, alignment with degree maps or pathways, and specific requirements. Here are some resources to help you get started and understand the transfer process:

Transfer resources for public community colleges, state colleges or universities

Connecticut:  Connecticut State Colleges and Universities’ Transfer Navigator

Maine:  University of Maine System Transfer Tools; Maine’s Community Colleges’ How to Transfer Guide

Massachusetts:  MassTransfer

New Hampshire:  NHTransfer

Rhode Island:  Rhode Island Transfers

Vermont:  Vermont State Colleges System Direct Admissions (Transfer); Community College of Vermont Transfer

Independent four-year institution transfer

Check individual institution websites, or contact a transfer advisor, for specific transfer information.

NEBHE is currently working with independent institutions and community colleges in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island to build transfer pathways through the New England Independent College Transfer Guarantee. To learn more about the Guarantee here.
