New Tufts Public Safety Director Pursues Key Priority: Antiracism

Tufts University appointed special sheriff and superintendent of the Suffolk County (Massachusetts) Sheriff’s Department Yolanda Smith to be its next executive director of public safety, which includes the role of chief of the Tufts University Police Department. One of her priorities will be to follow the recommendations of a Working Group on Campus Safety and Policing created as part of the Tufts commitment to be an antiracist institution.

Katherine E. Gregory, associate chief nursing officer for women’s and newborn health, research and innovation at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and assistant professor of pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, was named dean of the Connell School of Nursing at Boston College.

Bay Path University named Franklin Pierce University Associate Vice President of Advancement Crystal Neuhauser as its vice president of institutional advancement, effective June 21.

Berkshire Community College (BCC) appointed Kierstyn Hunter to be its vice president for academic affairs & chief academic officer. Hunter recently served as interim vice president for academic affairs at American International College. BCC also named Kelly Osorio to be its director of student financial services. Osorio was recently director of financial aid at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania.

The University of Maine named Penny Bishop, a professor of education and former associate dean at the University of Vermont, to be the new dean of UMaine’s College of Education and Human Development, effective July 1.
