Comings and Goings …

Former speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives Christopher G. Donovan was hired to be a field representative with the Connecticut Education Association, the state’s largest teachers union. Another legislative leader, Donald E. Williams Jr., the outgoing Democratic leader of the Connecticut Senate was recently named the association’s deputy director of professional policy, practice, research and reform.

Rhode Island Gov-Elect Gina Raimondo nominated outgoing Connecticut Education Commissioner Stefan Pryor to the Ocean State’s first secretary of commerce.

Fitchburg State University named California Polytechnic University College of Business Administration dean Richard S. Lapidus to be Fitchburg’s next president, effective July 1.

Fairfield University named Peter Van Heerden to be the new executive director of the university’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts.

Angel B. Pérez was named Trinity College’s new vice president of enrollment and student success, effective in June. Pérez is currently vice president and dean of admission and financial aid at Pitzer College in Claremont, Calif.

Vermont PBS named Holly Groschner, currently general counsel for the Vermont Telecommunications Authority, to succeed John King as president of the station formerly called Vermont Public Television.
