Gilda Barabino, a former NEBHE Mentor, Named Second Prez of Olin College

Gilda Barabino, dean of the Grove School of Engineering and the Daniel and Frances Berg Professor at ghe City College of New York, was named president of Olin College of Engineering, effective July 1. While a faculty member at Northeastern University, Barabino served on NEBHE’s Advisory Committee on Equity and Diversity from 2000 to 2007 and as a faculty role model/mentor in NEBHE’s Role Model Network for Under Represented Students from 1991 to 2007.

Endicott College named Beth M. Schwartz, currently vice president for academic affairs, provost and professor of psychology at Ohio’s Heidelberg University, to be the new provost and professor of psychology at Endicott in Beverly, Mass.

Elms College appointed  three new staff directors: Michael Crawford, who most recently served as a research associate in a culture and mental-health-disparities lab at the University of Connecticut, will become Elms director of diversity and inclusion; Andrea Holden, who most recently served as a student-engagement specialist at the Community College of Rhode Island, will be Elms director of alumni relations; and Pablo Madera, a Ludlow, Mass. police officer and adjunct professor at Western New England University, will be Elms director of public safety.
