Another Swing Through Spring Commencements

U.S. Navy Captain and NASA astronaut Christopher Cassidy will keynote Husson University’s 116th commencement on Sunday, May 10 at 2 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine.

Salem State University will hold commencement activities Thursday, May 14 and Saturday, May 16. News anchor and consumer activist Susan Wornick will address graduate school students on Thursday, May 14 at 4 p.m. in Rockett Arena. Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey will address College of Health and Human Services and School of Business students on Saturday, May 16 at 10 a.m. in Rockett Arena. David S. Ferriero, archivist of the United States, will address College of Arts and Sciences and School of Education graduates on Saturday, May 16 at 3 p.m. in Rockett Arena.

U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the first Muslim elected to Congress, will address graduates of Hartford Seminary on Friday, May 15 at 5 p.m. under the tent on campus.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker will keynote Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology’s 107th commencement on Saturday, May 16 at 10 a.m. at the college.

Philanthropist William “Bill” Alfond will keynote Thomas College’s commencement on Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. in the Harold Alfond Athletic Center.

Olympic gold medalist and distance running champion Joan Benoit Samuelson will address graduates of the University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday, May 16 at 10:30 a.m.

J. Duke Albanese, a senior policy advisor for the Great Schools Partnership and former Maine education commissioner, will keynote the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s 106th commencement on Saturday, May 16 at 1 p.m. in Wieden Gymnasium.

Emmy-winning syndicated talk show host and former Today co-anchor Meredith Vieira will deliver Boston University’s 142nd commencement address on Sunday, May 17 at 1 p.m. at Nickerson Field.

Johnson & Wales University’s Providence campus will hold three commencement ceremonies. Rhode Island Supreme Court Justice Maureen McKenna Goldberg will address the graduate studies and doctoral programs on Thursday, May 21 at 6:45 p.m. at the Providence Performing Arts Center. Angela Leigh Raynor, proprietor of the Boarding House and the Pearl of Nantucket, Mass., will address undergraduates on Saturday, May 23 at 8:45 a.m. at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Washington Trust Company President and CEO Edward Otis Handy, III will address graduates of the College of Management at 2:45 p.m also at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.

Activist Gloria Steinem will address Bennington College’s 80th commencement dinner on Friday, June 5 at 7 p.m. on Commons Lawn.
