Hampshire College named technology entrepreneur and alumnus Jose Fuentes as the new chair of the 20-member board of trustees, succeeding Luis Hernandez. Originally from Guatemala, Fuentes oversees Maison, an educational technology company that helps community colleges retain and graduate more students using online services. He was a managing partner at Savory, a food and software company that prepares and delivers meals in New York City, and co-founded Duolingo, the online language learning platform.
Rhode Island College named Catherine Taylor, former director of the Rhode Island Division of Elderly Affairs and former aide to both Sen. John Chafee and Sen. Lincoln Chafee, as the new director of Age-Friendly Rhode Island, succeeding Jody Shue as head of the RIC initiative that supports and empowers Rhode Islanders as they age.
