The late Richard E. Wylie
Endicott College President Richard E. Wylie passed away. Wylie was widely credited with spearheading the college’s transition from a small, two-year school for women to a coeducational institution with international reach offering undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees. Katie Barnes was named interim president.
Quincy College President Peter Tsaffaras announced his resignation after the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing revoked approval of the city-affiliated college’s nursing programs, citing the low scores of its graduates on clinical exams.
Susan Herbst, the first woman president of the University of Connecticut, announced she will step down next summer after eight years as president of the state’s flagship university.
Roger Williams University President Donald Farish, a member of NEBHE’s Commission on Higher Education & Employability, announced he will retire in June 2019 from the Rhode Island university, which will give him the title of president emeritus.
Connecticut’s Manchester Community College President Gena Glickman announced she will retire July 1 after 10 years at the community college. The first female president of the college, Glickman was expected to be named president of Massasoit Community College in Brockton. The announcement comes as the New England Association of Schools and Colleges derailed a plan to consolidate Connecticut’s 12 community colleges into one institution.
The University of Maine System appointed University of Maine at Farmington Provost and VP for Academic Affairs Eric C. Brown to serve as interim president of the university for a one-year term, succeeding Kathryn A. “Kate” Foster who accepted an appointment as the next president of The College of New Jersey.
Monica Moody Moore, former associate dean of admissions & academic programs at the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School, was appointed dean of graduate admissions at the F. W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.
Daniel Greenstein, who oversaw postsecondary education at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was named the new chancellor of Pennsylvania’s State System of Higher Education, comprising 14 state universities.
