Connecticut State Colleges & Universities President Gregory Gray sent the state’s Board of Regents for Higher Education a one-sentence letter saying he would resign Dec. 31 after two years as president of the state’s largest public college system.
The Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education appointed John B. Clark to be president of Western Connecticut State University (WCSU), one of the 17 institutions of the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities System. Clark has held leadership positions at the State University of New York (SUNY) campuses in Alfred, Brockport and Plattsburgh.
Connecticut’s University of Saint Joseph (USJ) appointed Towson University math chair Raouf Boules to be dean of its School of Health and Natural Sciences. USJ also named Carrie Walker founding chair and program director for the Physician Assistant program, expected to launch in 2017.
Goddard College appointed Lewis Jones to be chief academic officer and academic dean of the college, effective Sept. 14. Jones was previously provost and vice president for academic affairs at Bluefield State College in West Virginia, where he received the college’s first faculty vote of no confidence. Goddard officials told VTDigger.org that Jones’s progressive educational philosophy outweighed the no confidence vote.
Suffolk University appointed Colm Renehan, currently interim vice president for advancement at the University of Alberta, to be senior vice president for advancement at Suffolk, reporting to President Margaret McKenna. Previously, Renehan was vice president for advancement at Lesley University, when McKenna was president there.
