Wheaton College named Emerson College Provost and VP for Academic Affairs Michaele Whelan to be the Norton, Mass., college’s ninth president, succeeding Dennis M. Hanno, who last year announced he would step down after leading the college since 2014.

Biddy Martin announced she will leave the presidency of Amherst College next summer after 11 years as head of the prestigious liberal arts college in Western Massachusetts. Among accomplishments during Martin’s tenure, Amherst’s class of 2025 is the first in which a majority of students identify as people of color.

Clark University appointed Joseph M. Corazzini as vice president for government and community affairs, effective Nov. 1. Among other duties, Corazzini will be responsible for sustaining Clark’s partnerships in Worcester, Mass. and the Main South neighborhood. He has served as assistant superintendent of equity, diversity and community development and director of community resource development for the nearby Framingham (Mass.) Public Schools and with various Worcester community groups.
