Comings and Goings …

Newly elected Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont nominated state Sen. Beth Bye, D-West Hartford, current co-chair of the Legislature’s Education Committee and NEBHE delegate, to lead the state Office of Early Childhood.

Lamont also nominated state Sen. Tim Larson, executive director of Tweed New Haven-Regional Airport, to lead the state Office of Higher Education, which administers state financial aid programs, oversees the licensure and accreditation of Connecticut’s independent colleges and universities and regulates more than 150 postsecondary career schools.

Newly elected Maine Gov. Janet Mills named Maine Community College System (MCCS) President Derek P. Langhauser to serve as chief legal counsel to the governor. The system’s Chief Financial Officer David J. Daigler will succeed Langhauser as president for an initial two-year term.
