Bridgewater State U Dean to Lead Modern Language Association

Paula Krebs, dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Bridgewater State University, was named the next executive director of the Modern Language Association, succeeding Rosemary Feal, who announced plans to step down after 15 years in charge of the national organization.

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker appointed banking executive and anti-Trump activist Rosalin Acosta to be the state’s next secretary of labor, succeeding Ronald Walker, also a banker by training and the state’s only African-American cabinet secretary, who announced he’d leave state government at the end of the month.

Norwich University officials named Sandra G. Affenito, formerly associate provost and dean of graduate studies and research at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford, Conn., to be the first provost and dean of faculty at the Vermont institution, and Francis (Frank) Moore, formerly of Longwood University in Virginia and Pacific Lutheran University in Washington, to be its first chief information officer. Norwich also named Air Force Colonel Andrew Hird to be dean of its College of National Services, which oversees Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs.
