Among Comings and Goings, New Leaders at Conn. System, RISD; Leibowitz Says He’ll Leave Middlebury Helm in 2015

Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy named Nicholas M. Donofrio, to chair the Board of Regents of the Connecticut State Colleges & Universities, the state’s largest higher ed system. Donofrio is a former IBM executive and member of the board. The administration asked the previous chair of the 92,000-student system, Lewis J. Robinson, to step down in August amid a pay-raise scandal and other problems plaguing the system during his tenure.

Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) named Provost Rosanne Somerson to serve as interim president, succeeding John Maeda, who announced he’d leave RISD at the end of the fall semester to become a design partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

Middlebury College President Ron Liebowitz said he will leave the post he has held since 2004 on June 30, 2015.

Wheelock College President appointed Jennifer Carr Rice as vice president for development and alumni relations, effective Jan. 1, 2014. She has served as the role on an interim basis since May.
