Among Comings and Goings, Conn. College Plucks News Prez from Brown

Katherine Bergeron, dean of the college at Brown University, was named the 11th president of Connecticut College, effective Jan. 1, 2014.

The Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education, which governs the 17 Connecticut State Colleges & Universities, appointed Asnuntuck Community College CFO and Dean of Administration James Lombella to be the interim president of the college, following Martha McLeod’s retirement effective July 1, 2013.

Carmen R. Cid

, dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at Eastern Connecticut State University, was appointed interim president at Quinebaug Valley Community College, effective Aug. 1, 2013. She succeeds Robert E. Miller, the college’s founding president, who has served as interim president since November.

The University of New England appointed James Koelbl to be provost and senior vice president, and dean of the College of Dental Medicine, and Ellen Beaulieu to be vice president for academic affairs and dean of the College of Graduate Studies.

Providence College appointed Gregory T. Waldron to be senior vice president of institutional advancement. Waldron was vice president for college advancement at Connecticut College since 2004 and before that, served nine years at Wesleyan University in university relations and development.

John Saddlemire, formerly the vice president for student affairs at the University of Connecticut, became Bryant Univerity’s new vice president of student affairs and dean of students.

Patricia Padula Morgan was appointed associate dean of the School of Health and Natural Sciences and chair of nursing at the University of Saint Joseph.

Beyond New England, the Educational Testing Service (ETS) promoted Executive Vice President and COO Walt MacDonald to be the next president and CEO of the nonprofit educational measurement and research organization, effective Jan. 1, 2014.
