Nancy L. Zimpher, chancellor of the State University of New York system, will resign on June 30, 2017, after seven years leading the nation’s largest comprehensive system of higher education. Zimpher forged notable cross-sector partnerships in areas ranging from early college high schools to transfer and research commercialization. She keynoted NEBHE’s October 2015 conference on Learner-Centered Institutions: The Future of Higher Education.
The board of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts (AICUM) appointed Tufts University President Anthony P. Monaco to be chair and Merrimack College President Christopher Hopey to be chair-elect of the organization representing 58 private, nonprofit colleges and universities throughout Massachusetts.
