Comings and Goings …
Southern Vermont College (SVC) President Karen Gross announced that she will step down in October after eight years as president of the Bennington, Vt. college, to return to Washington, D.C., where she spent 2012 working at the U.S. Department of Education. (Gross said she was not certain the department would be her specific return target.) A new SVC president is expected to be named this fall. Gross has been a NEBHE delegate since 2010 and a frequent contributor to NEJHE.
Barbara Finkelstein, senior vice president of Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Mass., was named president of York County Community College.
Robert V. Antonucci announced he will retire as president of Fitchburg State University at the end of the 2014-15 academic year. A former Massachusetts commissioner of education and graduate of Fitchburg State, he served 11 years at the helm of his alma mater. In April, Fitchburg State Executive Vice President and Provost Robin E. Bowen was named president of Arkansas Tech University
Fairfield University appointed Wally Halas, an exec at St. John’s University in New York City, to be Fairfield’s vice president for university advancement, effective June 1.
