Cambridge College Dean of Student Affairs Regina Robinson was named deputy commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Known for standing up for marginalized students, Robinson served one term on the Boston School Committee.
Keene State College named University of Southern Indiana Dean James M. Beeby, a historian, to be the New Hampshire college’s provost and vice president for academic affairs. Beeby is a first-generation college student who graduated from a public university in his native United Kingdom.
Arwen Staros Duffy, currently assistant vice president for development at the University of Southern California, was named vice chancellor for advancement at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, starting Nov. 15.
Former Massachusetts state Rep. Dan Winslow was appointed president of the Boston-based New England Legal Foundation, a regional nonprofit that addresses policy and constitutional concerns related to free enterprise. Winslow was chief legal counsel to Gov. Mitt Romney and spent nearly eight years on the bench of the Massachusetts Trial Court.

David T. Flanagan, who led Central Maine Power in the 1990s, died at age 74. An attorney active in various public efforts in Maine, Flanagan’s higher education service included chairing the University of Maine System Board of Trustees, leading a 2009 task force on the structure and governance of the University of Maine System, chairing the American University in Bulgaria and serving in 2014 as president of the University of the Southern Maine.
