Among Spring Events: Goddard Explores Occupy; Kuttner to Speak at USM; New England Ed Opportunity Assn. to Meet in Stowe, Vt.

 

Playing up its activist roots, Goddard College announced it will host a conference to explore the role of higher education in the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement. The conference will take place on Saturday, March 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Haybarn Theatre on Goddard’s  Plainfield, Vt. campus.

Robert Kuttner, co-editor of The American Prospect (which he co-founded with Paul Starr and Robert Reich) and senior fellow at the think tank Demos, will deliver the next Shepard Lee Lecture entitled, “The Slow Road to Recovery: Is this the Best We Can Do?” on Friday, March 30, at 5 p.m., at the University of Southern Maine’s Wishcamper Center.

The New England Educational Opportunity Association will hold its 2012 annual meeting on “Reframing the Value of Education: An NEOA Perspective” from Wednesday, April 4 , through Friday, April 6, at the Stoweflake Resort and Conference Center in Stowe, Vt.
