New England’s public colleges and universities continue to expand their program offerings under the New England Regional Student Program (RSP), which means more access for the region’s residents to out-of-the-ordinary programs at reduced tuition. Students eligible under the RSP save an average of $7,000 on their annual tuition bills.
For students interested in studying and improving the human condition, for example, new programs in Human Rights, Ethnic and Gender Studies and Youth Development join the list of unique RSP offerings like Holocaust Studies, which has been RSP-eligible for several years.
Students with a creative bent can pursue new bachelor’s degree programs in Game Design, Digital Media and Design or Cinema Production, as well as longstanding RSP programs such as Puppetry, Sound Recording Technology and Environmental Design.
Those who are interested in a focus on the natural environment can pursue new programs in Wildlife Ecology, Outdoor Recreation or Community Recreation or Integrated Agriculture Management. Or those passionate about sustainability and the local food movement might consider a program in Ecogastronomy or Sustainable Agriculture.
These are only a few examples of the more than 750 undergraduate and graduate degree programs offered by New England public colleges under the RSP.
Students’ eligibility under the RSP depends on whether their home state’s public colleges offer their program of choice. The RSP degree programs are selected and approved on an annual basis and indicate which states’ residents are eligible for the RSP tuition discount. View the lists of approved programs on NEBHE’s website.
Students are also eligible in some cases when they live closer to an out-of-state college than to an in-state college. Check the list of proximity eligible campuses for details.
A total of 33 degree programs have been newly approved under the RSP, starting in fall 2014: 16 bachelor’s, eight associate and nine graduate programs (lists follow).
