Marlene M. Johnson announced she will retire as president and CEO of NAFSA: Association of International Educators at the end of December 2016.
The Massachusetts Bay Community College Board of Trustees recommended David Podell, vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty at Marymount Manhattan College in New York, to be the next president of MassBay.
Nancy Targett, acting president at the University of Delaware, was named provost and vice president for academic affairs at the University of New Hampshire, effective Sept. 1. Targett served in Delaware as dean of the College of Earth, Ocean and Environment and director of Delaware Sea Grant since 2005.
Joelle A. Murchison, currently vice president of enterprise diversity and inclusion for The Travelers Companies Inc., was named associate vice president and chief diversity officer at the University of Connecticut, where she will develop programs and coordinate activities to recruit and retain faculty, students and staff from diverse backgrounds. NEJHE (when it was called Connection) featured former UConn Chief Diversity Officer Damon Williams on the changing role of diversity officers on campus.
The California State University Board of Trustees appointed Southern Connecticut State University President Mary A. Papazian to be president of San Jose State University, effective July 1.
