Egan Named Co-Chair of Higher Ed Committee at New England Council

Dan Egan, president of the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Rhode Island (AICURI), was named the new co-chair, of the New England Council’s Higher Education Committee, succeeding Tim Leshan, who stepped down from the committee role when he was recently promoted in his work at Northeastern University to vice provost for research, government affairs & strategic partnerships. Egan, a NEBHE delegate, will join Dean College President Paula Rooney to lead the New England business group’s Higher Education Committee, which focuses on issues such as workforce development, STEM education, increased access to higher education and the development of the region’s talent pipeline through research, innovation and collaboration.

Harvard University promoted professor Srikant Datar to be the next dean of Harvard Business School, succeeding Nitin Nohria, who plans to step down from the post in June 2020 after more than 30 years at the B-school, including 10 as dean. Datar joined the faculty in 1996 and, since 2015, has been the faculty chair of the Harvard Innovation Labs, or the i-Lab.

Boston Children’s Hospital elevated President and Chief Operating Office Kevin Churchwell to succeed his former boss Sandra Fenwick as the hospital’s chief executive, when Fenwick retires at the end of March.
