Economist, Community College Chancellor Gittell to Lead Bryant University

The Bryant University Board of Trustees announced that after an extensive national search it has appointed distinguished economist and economic development expert Ross Gittell, who is currently chancellor of the Community College System of New Hampshire, as the university’s next president. Gittell will succeed Ronald K. Machtley, a former member of Congress, who has served as Bryant’s president since 1996, receiving a New England Higher Education Excellence Award from NEBHE in 2012 and authoring an article on teaching in this issue of NEJHE (then called Connection). Gittell has been a NEBHE delegate since 2012 and a frequent contributor to NEJHE on issues of regional economic analysis and forecasting. He played a key role in NEBHE’s Commission on Higher Education & Employability.

uAspire CEO Bob Giannino was named president and CEO of the United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley, succeeding Michael K. Durkin, who has served as president and CEO for 43 years.
