Conn. Regents Name Five New Campus CEOs; Framingham State’s Cevallos to Join Central Mass. Presidential Churn

Comings and Goings …

The Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education (BOR) selected five campus chief executive officers responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations. The BOR announcement noted the major reorganization of Connecticut’s community college system and plans to merge the 12, independent community colleges into a single accredited institution, known as Connecticut State Community College, by 2023. The new CEOs are: Michelle Coach at Asnuntuck Community College (ACC), Lisa Dresdner at Naugatuck Valley Community College (NVCC), Cheryl DeVonish at Norwalk Community College (NCC), Karen Hynick at Quinebaug Valley Community College (QVCC), and Darryl Reome at Tunxis Community College (TCC). Hynick has been vice president of academic affairs at North Shore Community College (NSCC) in Danvers, Mass. since 2014. The other four have been serving as interim CEOs at the campuses.

Cevallos

Framingham State University President Javier Cevallos announced he will leave the post he has held since 2014 after the upcoming 2021-22 academic year. His tenure has been marked by an emphasis on diversity, a growing endowment and a merger with the Danforth Art Museum. His departure comes amid significant presidential turnover at Central Massachusetts institutions. In Worcester, David Fithian began at Clark University last fall, and Vincent Rougeau takes over at the College of the Holy Cross this July. In Dudley, Nichols College President
