The University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees tapped Becker College President Robert E. Johnson to be chancellor of UMass Dartmouth, succeeding Peyton Randolph Helm, who served as interim chancellor after the departure of Chancellor Divina Grossman. In a letter to Becker faculty and staff, Johnson said Nancy Crimmin, Becker’s senior vice president and chief academic and student affairs officer, will serve as interim president of Worcester, Mass.-based Becker.
Former Bowdoin College President Barry Mills joined the University of Massachusetts at Boston in the new position of deputy chancellor and chief operating officer.
Maine College of Art appointed Laura Freid, CEO of The Silk Road Project and former communications executive at Brown University and Harvard University, as the 135- year-old Maine institution’s president.
The New Hampshire College & University Council named Mike Vlacich, a member of the University System of New Hampshire Board of Trustees and former director of the New Hampshire Division of Economic Development, to succeed Tom Horgan as CEO of the Granite State’s consortium of public and independent higher ed institutions.
Vermont College of Fine Arts named acclaimed author Julianna Baggott to be faculty director for the college’s residential MFA in Writing & Publishing program.
